I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious”~Albert Einstein

Hi there. I’m Kim and I’m cultivating curiosity!

I’m a reader, a curious explorer, a storyteller and a cultivator of the spirit of inquiry, exploration and adventure I am lucky enough to spend my free time cultivating a passionately curious life. What I have discovered about myself over the years, is the interest in following threads and following trails. Those threads and trails, over the course of my life, have led me in a lot of different directions. They had partly to do with intellectual enthusiasm, partly the sense of curiosity-”I’m curious what’s around the corner?”

Curiosity is about actively engaging in the deeply human need to direct one’s own life, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world. It is about autonomy, mastery and purpose.

My mission is to protect and cultivate this deeply personal spirit of inquiry, exploration and adventure, to keep it from becoming “fossilized” through dogmatic instruction, or dissipated through random exercises upon trivial things.

I have spent the better part of my personal and professional life cultivating curiosity by designing, creating and facilitating self-directed learning adventures. My 26 plus years of experience working with Kinko’s and now with FedEx Office, have been founded upon promoting a love of self-directed learning, on fostering creative and critical thinking and on developing analytical and inferential reasoning-while building skills at the same time-in alternative learning formats and environments.

The thing that is great for you is, I know from experience that sustaining curiosity is less a matter of perspiration than of cultivation. I understand the need to give curiosity nourishment to keep it growing, to plant it in fertile soil where its roots can make new connections, and then give it time to bloom. I also strongly believe that you can’t always know exactly where to be but you can keep active in places where something might happen.

I created this site for you as much as for myself. By demonstrating and communicating authentic and unique ways to nourish curiosity, I hope to engage and inspire you. I hope to empower you to brave the wilds of unusual and unconventional settings and methods of investigation, exploration and discovery, and to do distinctive, exciting research and study just outside the mainstream.

Whether curiosity is a long-time friend or brand new to you, I hope to send fellow explorers and investigators forth with a fresh appreciation for how cultivating your natural curiosity can enrich your quest for a fuller life and greater intimacy with the world around you.

Proceed with curiosity!

Kim
