Coming Soon: A Curious Explorers Notebook: In Search of Treasure Island
This map, according to Edward Rowe Snow, a Massachusetts expert on colonial pirates, shows another island cache of pirate treasure. The problem is, he has no idea where the island is located. I would begin by reading of some of Snow’s works and see what information you can come up with. I bet there are references to this map somewhere if you do an in depth review of his work.
Coming Soon: A Curious Explorers Notebook: In Search of Old Postal Routes
The Old Boston Post Road, by Stephen Jenkins (1913). In the year 1673, the first mail upon the continent of America was dispatched from New York to Boston by way of small groups of houses huddled together for mutual protection. As settlements began to grow inland, roads became necessary to maintain communication. Several such roads were developed from Indian trails leading from Boston to New York. The subject of this book is the oldest and most northerly of these post roads, over which the first post-riders went as well as many other adventurers and explorers.
This book has over 200 illustrations and maps which would be very helpful to the curious explorer who might be interested in tracing and recording some of these lost Indian trails in his/her surrounding area.
Stephen Jenkins was a member of the Wechester County Historical Society and the author of The Greatest Street in the World and The Story of the Bronx. You can find this book at the Internet Archives.
